Who am I?
Hi, I am Dr. Sue Nguyen and the Founder/Managing Director of Clueo Clinical.
I came to Australia at aged 12 from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. At 16, my beloved grandma, whom I grew up with, passed away from breast cancer in Vietnam. And I couldn’t be there to say goodbye. To honour my grandma, I dedicated approximately 10 years to better understand and improve the treatment of cancer so others can afford to spend more time with their loved ones.
I hold a PhD and a post-doctoral research fellowship in Cancer Genomics (using the latest technology to identify what to target for treatment and screening options for cancer patients). My research has been translated into human studies (clinical trials) for HER2+ breast cancer, SeptiCyte® diagnostic test (patented by Immune Express Inc. in 2012) for sepsis. I have published many original research articles during my academic years. After a fruitful career in academia, I decided to pursue the clinical trial industry, where I worked for different Pharma and Biotech companies and contract research organisations of different sizes until I founded Clueo Clinical in 2020 during a world pandemic.
Despite coming from a humble beginning, I have been taught since young to believe in myself and to help others less fortunate whenever I can. These are the legacy from my dear grandmother.
Having encountered many challenges and repeatedly managed to overcome and achieved success in my life and career, I now want to empower other people to overcome their own challenges so that they too, can achieve their success and reach their full potential.
What was the motivation behind Clueo Clinical?

I’ve been approached by many students, colleagues and friends of colleagues to help them transition to the industry. While I could help some transitioned, I realised that on most occasions, the gaps were greater than what I was able to offer given my busy schedules. To help, I researched into what the gaps were and the types of services that were available out there to help those who needed. But I could not identify any services at the time that could adequately address all the gaps and obstacles these individuals faced.
The gaps STEM candidates face were more than simply lack of industry experience. These individuals, while formally qualified from university, have little to no knowledge and understanding of the industry they would like to enter. Worse, they are confused about the industry roles and have no idea where to even begin.
In other words, without appropriate guidance, STEM graduates and young professionals often feel lost upon exiting university or academia. This often translates to frustration, self-doubt, and ultimately complete loss of self-confidence. All because they struggled to get their foot-in-the-door into their desired industry.
On the other hand, I’ve been working in Pharma and Biotech companies and contract research organisations and witnessed first-hand the many challenges companies face to acquire talents.
Recognizing the dilemma from both sides, I wanted to help. After several years of investigation and market research, Clueo Clinical was born.
What is so unique about Clueo Clinical?
The truth is we simple care a lot about the people we work with. We’ve all been there so we understand the hardship. So instead of of just handing out to our trainees a piece of paper and sending them out to find the jobs by themselves. We work closely with them every step of the way. We want to empower the trainees with relevant industry knowledge and hard skills as well as the soft skills they need to set them up for life and reach their true potential.
That’s why we dare to go where no institution dares to go. We will guarantee the success of all our trainees through our signature Industry-Bridging Programs.
